Low FODMAP DietÂ
The Low FODMAP Diet is a treatment option for IBS. FODMAPs are carbohydrates that can trigger IBS symptoms as they are fermented by gut bacteria. These carbohydrates are called Fermentable, Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. FODMAPs are found in a wide range of foods including vegetables, fruits, cereals, grains, breads, nuts, seeds, dairy products, processed foods and beverages.
The Low FODMAP Diet is a 3 phased diet approach including exclusion phase, reintroduction phase, and personalisation phase. The major goal is to find balance between good symptom control and expansion of the diet. The Low FODMAP diet is not suitable for everyone and in some cases, it can make IBS symptoms worse.
We can carry out an assessment of your medical history, symptoms, diet, and lifestyle to provide personalised dietary advice for you.
